Borealis Dance Theatre is excited to create a space for young dance artists to find their artistic voice through the Amplified Artists Program. Under direction of Artistic Director, Danielle Ricci Cheng, this program fosters advanced dancers 16-20 years of age to train and perform original work around the Twin Cities. Opportunities include class, weekly choreography labs for dancers’ work with public showings, and ensemble rehearsals lead by Cheng for performances around the Twin Cities.

THe what, where and why
Dancers in the company will met for weekly class/ choreography labs at the Center for Performing Arts in South Minneapolis Sundays, 5:30-8:30. This is a time to dive into research, choreography, and community. There is a monthly program fee of $40. There are no extra cost for photoshoots or performances throughout the season. There are need based scholarship applications available upon request if you are in need of financial assistance.
what we carry
Borealis Dance Theatre is proud to announce that we have received support from Minneapolis Arts and Cultural Affairs’ Bridge Fund for Dance for our upcoming production of What We Carry- a piece about displacement due to war and conflict through the lens of the youth. BDT and Green Card Voices invite audiences on a journey as they learn about displacement in the world and how the neighborhoods of Minneapolis evolved with the people who now call the Twin Cities home.

Choreographic showcases
Dancers become choreographers through collaborative work in the studio. Artists have the opportunity to choreograph and have space to show their work for public performances in Minneapolis.
auditions
Amplified Artists is an audition based youth company under Borealis Dance Theatre. We invite intermediate to advanced dancers to come to the audition to move together and learn more about who we are and what we do.
Auditions for Amplified Artists will be held at the Center for Performing Arts: Studio 305
